Unusual Words

Came across an unusual word the other day to describe an acivity which many of us partake in.

GONGOOZLE - "A person who enjoys watching activity on canals in the UK".  Now used more generally to describe those who harbour an interest in canals and canal life, but do not actively participate.

What a great word and I've done lots of gongoozling over the years; my favourite spot was at Trebes on the Canal du Midi watching holiday boats trying to get into the lock on a windy day after just a few minutes instruction.  Any more unusual (and polite please) words linked to our hobbhy?

Shame it is restricted to waterborne activities. As it would be an excellent word for the pastime of watch couples put up their awning for the first time.
