I can't see the original sticky so will start a new thread.  Saw nearly 30,000 knot on Breydon Water yesterday.  Great weekend at Minsmere, Otter, Kingfishers, Bitterns, lots of Marsh Harriers

We have lots of foxes and badgers here, I put out scraps sometimes but they are good at foraging, all local chickens are well protected at the moment because of avian flu, stout netting over runs too.

Today we had our lone Fieldfare again, apples are the main draw when thawed out a bit. smile

Geminids? I had a look, just locally ,but didn’t see any, and it was far too cold to stay out for long 😱

Thanks, Pliers and WN. Only saw one last night, hope for more tonight when I take Flyte out for his last 20 min walk.

Now got just about a full set, blackbirds, mistle thrushes, redwings, fieldfares and song thrushes. The rate they're stripping the tree there'll be nothing left in a couple of days. Sat here watching them and getting nothing else done!

There are a few apple trees and hawthorns by the site and the ground is strewn with apples. There are all those variety that you have seen John, having a feast both on the ground and in the trees.

Their appearance over us is reportedly short lived, main showers being on 14th and 15th.Dec. Odd one either side. You had luck on your side Nellie.

Just good chance, none last night so I guess the majority have passed, and it is cloudy now so no chance of seeing a stray one later.

Not what I have seen, although there have been lots about, but am just listening to a song by Jack Rutter.... Fieldfares.

Well worth a listen too, if one can find it.

I know the title of this thread is ‘What have you seen’ but is anyone like me concerned about what they have not seen?
We feed the birds in our garden from autumn through to late spring. This year the sparrows and starlings are there as usual but there seem to be few blue tits, great tits and chaffinches.  Is it a consequence of bird flu I wonder?

My garden is full of food....but no birds.

Previous years I have had a very busy garden, birds coming and going constantly.

This year A couple of Blackbirds, 2 Wood pigeons and Robin....something is up.

I have just thrown away 2 feeders full of mildewed peanuts.

Something is definitely happening to our bird population.
