I can't see the original sticky so will start a new thread.  Saw nearly 30,000 knot on Breydon Water yesterday.  Great weekend at Minsmere, Otter, Kingfishers, Bitterns, lots of Marsh Harriers

Mrs WN thinks it's a Red Maple but the fronds haven't yet developed fully. So there!

I still prefer the Covld Shrub.smile

I checked it out again yesterday, more branches now have blossoms. I have tied discreet ribbons, not yellow ๐Ÿ˜‰ on the branches and near the trunk. Possibly a bit of over kill but you never know if folk will remove. I will remove myself once I've identified the tree, but I'm pretty convinced it is red maple.

Sadly the bench in front of the copse had beer cans, I removed, along with a scorched black nylon something with straps and the back of the bench wrenched off an thrown where there has been a huge puddle because of footwear ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿค๐Ÿ˜ข.

The blackthorn/sloe bush closely has been to show colour so expecting it to turn colder very soon.

I have to say that the COVID virus does look attractive, despicable little beggar. Maybe that  was what caused me to really look? Yeah dream on.........

Plenty of bird activity and calls, spring is coming. I love all the seasons in turn but the promise of rebirth makes spring extra special.

It's definitely a maple, the fronds will turn into "keys" later on. If you put maple buds onto an internet search you'll see similar photos.

A shame to find litter B2.

A couple of weeks ago, looking at the longer range weather forecast I predicted that we would see the first frogs in our garden pond onThursday 11th March. It was the first warmer night with rain forecast. Lo and behold, this morning there were about 12 frogs but also three lots of spawn. I hope there aren’t many more to come. Last year I counted 74 at one time with masses of spawn. They managed to pollute the water which killed off my fish.

The bluetits are also busy today. They have been in and out of one of the nest boxes checking out it’s suitability for raising a family. I hope they like it.

Had a short walk this morning and saw 2 chiffchaffs and 1 blackcap and all three singing away whilst the sun was out now very windy and cloudy.

Same here with bluetits checking different bird boxes.

We've got a blackbird nesting in a single laural bush, good cover but a visting squirrel passes this area so could be a threat.

Wondering as usual when we'll see the first Swallow, reading up about them, they can cover 200 miles in a day.

We're quite excited as we've seen a pair of Ravens carrying nesting material to a tree nearby. It will be the first time that Raves will have nested here since we moved in some 35+ years ago. Mind you the local Crows aren't happy about it so they may get their way and evict the newcomers.
