I can't see the original sticky so will start a new thread.  Saw nearly 30,000 knot on Breydon Water yesterday.  Great weekend at Minsmere, Otter, Kingfishers, Bitterns, lots of Marsh Harriers

I suppose their mum's like them, not the most attractive birds.  Never seen one fly, can they?

The website that I checked them out states they fly rarely but like to roost in trees. I don't recall seeing one before.

In the wild they do fly and usually roost in trees.  Most of what we see have been domesticated and I can't remember seeing any flying although that doesn't mean they don't!

Just to say we kept Muscovy ducks, they can fly and are popular domestic birds.

A first for us a Kestral landed in the garden, couldn't get my camera quickly enough, would have been a great picture as it sat on the fence in a snow shower.

I can't compete with a Kestrel in the garden, but I was able to add another tagged Marsh Harrier to my list of birds seen locally.

The other MH is not tagged...just a funny patch on head.

What a lovely day....pity I have to wait in for a man to give me a quote for a new fence.

About 10 red grouse on our local moors, this morning.

Not wildlife, but we also saw the wonderful Tornado steaming into Settle station. Will try to add a couple of photos, taken with the 'phone so not very good.

Had a fabulous afternoon watching what turned out to be 3 Short Eared Owls hunting in two fields at Uphill near Weston-Super-Mare. Originally it looked like only one, until all three started an ariel ballet. Only managed two at a time in shot from a fair distance, but what a surprise to find the three. Hope to return in the next week or so.
