April  starts  the  season  of  'Osprey  hunting'    for  me .

So  off  to  RSPB  Loch  Garten,  on-line  of  course,  and  the  sites  up, just  about,  but  no  Ospreys  as  yet.

So  over  to  Scottish  Wildlife Trusts  "Loch  of  The  Lowes"  Website  and,  and    Surprised  not  one  but  two  Ospreys  &  mating  in  full  view  of  the  cameras  !  Its  not  the  aged  "Lady"  but  a  new  female  now  in  residence,  so  we'll  have  to  see  if  the  old  girl  turns  up  at  all.  Well  she  is  believed  to  be  in  the  high  twenties  now,  darn  near  Geriatric  as  far  as  Ospreys  go !  I  understand  Rutland  has  a  number  of  arrivals   so  I  must  keep  watching  Loch  Garten  for  more  tales  of  Bad Bird  Behaviour  !!

Bad news at one of the Keilder nests where a Goshawk has taken 2 of the nearly fully grown chicks, despite the parents doing their best to protect their brood. Nature in the raw!!

All three look well and were ringed on 7th July. They are exercising their wings regularly. Won't be long now before they fledge.

I have been watching the Poole Harbour Osprey webcams since they hatched.  As you say peedee they look almost ready to go.  I shall miss watching them when they do!

Yes the chick 5H3 is sitting up on the camera this morning.  He had a flight last night apparently.  The other two won’t be long I’m sure.

Think the first flight was at 0514hrs today. A short circle around the nest and back down again. He or she was off again shortly after. I don't think the first flight was yesterday but was in fact early this morning?
