Sportsmen(?) v wildlife

I once fished a local 'lake', in truth it was a man made irrigation 'pond' where trout had been placed to keep mosquitos numbers down and provide sport for us local anglers. Some dead fish were found and the suspects were mink and a cull was called for. Surprisingly the culprit  turned out to be otters and in an area where they had not been seen for years. Quite rightly the decision was then made by the syndicate members to just live alongside these natural and indigenous fellow predators.  Of course it would have been illegal to do otherwise but every member in my opinion wholehearted agreed. If it had been mink, an introduced species, then the attitude I'm sure would have been different.
