Just had the annual arrival of a pair of red legged partridge in the garden. They will visit throughout the nesting season and if we are lucky they will eventually bring their young to eat up seed falling from a feeder. I have never found where they disappear to in August but presume its back to the fields. They are always very wary  but prefer running across a nearby road rather than take flight.
