Video Ref.

How will this work in soccer? Does the ref. have to wait for a 'natural' break in the game to review? Can players or managers request it or is it only for the ref. when he is unsure? Will it work in this sport?

V A R   did  not  stop  the  whining,  grousing  &  grumbling  at  Chelsea  last  night,  though  did  it  !!

And  at  the  risk  of  enraging  some  folks  I  THINK  THE  REF  &  VAR  GOT  IT  RIGHT  !!

Afraid nothing will stop the whining, grousing and grumbling at Chelsea. And at other clubs of course 🤔

I agree that the ref and VAR got it right. It's a new system, so will take a while to get it perfected, but it's a move in the right direction.

Off topic, I know, but I was surprised that the new penalty taking system wasn't used in the cup replay last night. Certainly was in the Leauge cup matches. And a much fairer system IMO .

I understand we've got VAR in our cup match against Man U next Saturday. One problem which most of the pundits have identified is that the crowd are left in the dark whilst the ref and others are pontificating, that won't be any different to matches without VAR because we are often left bewildered by a lot of decisions.

PS it seems that some of the refs are also confused as Mr Moss was heard to ask the fourth official what he'd seen on the tv in a match where there was no VAR. 😯

Well well well, VAR worked ok for us despite the squiggly lines which BT viewers apparently saw.

It seemed to take an age for the ref to get the decision. He was standing like a lemon with one finger in his ear waving players away then he made the sign of the square and gave a free kick.

At half time one of the ball boys went to the away end and made the same sign to the Man U fans just in case they hadn't got it the first time, cheeky little beggar!
