Should be interesting.  I hope England play well. ------ St George flags to the fore all over the country.  smile

I’m delighted to find I have a French connection on my great Grandfathers side-‘Pierre O’Shaunnesy’ so I’ll now be happy to support France thanks to my ancestry. . . .Vive le France(with a nod to the Irish Republic)👍🏻😎

Yep another meeting with Belgium. It's the match neither team will want to play.

Croatia may be a small country, but a lot of their players play at very big clubs, the goal scorer is Ronnie's strike partner at Real Madrid! Barcelona, Juventus etc...... Luka Modric has more winners medals than the whole England team combined! So no shame in losing to Croatia. England had wasted opportunities in the first half when they could have been 3 up. Last night, wily experience and better finishing cost us dearly. But they can hold their heads high. How long has it been since England were in any competition not hanging on desperately after losing the first match?

Can the experienced Croatians now beat a very young but highly skilled French team?

So how does a tiny nation produce such quality, skill and experience? How is it with their lack of resources and finacial support can they do so well? What is it that gives them that winning edge?

I have no idea! Much like many of the African nations. Perhaps the vast majority of their children can't afford computers, so go out and do things for real? Perhaps they still have a balanced school curriculum that still sees the necessity of PE? Perhaps the parents have a different mindset? Perhaps their footballing infrastructure isn't loaded towards immense wealth at Club level but concentrates more at nurturing youngsters? Just a few guesses.......wink

Their players may learn the basics skills at home but then the massively wealthy clubs particularly in England, Spain and Italy hoover them up and turn them into world beaters at the expense of their own youngsters. If you want a perfect illustration of that, just watch how many of our U17 and U20 world cup winners make the grade in Premier League teams over the next couple of years! frown

I would like to see Croatia win but sadly I think the French will outclass them.

I don't mind who wins the final, and will probably enjoy the game more because of that!

As for the 3rd place game, I hope all the English and Belgian players who haven't featured yet get a game. Then every member of the 2 squads will have played in a World Cup. A great achievement for any player!
