Grand Slams?

When I first became interested in tennis - in the days of Emerson, Stolle and Rosewall - a "Grand Slam" was when an individual won all four "majors" ie Wimbledon and the French, USA and Australian titles.

Has anyone else noticed that individual competitions are now often referred to as "Grand Slams" or even just "Slams"?

ie Wimbledon is referred to as a "Grand Slam" rather than a "major"?

Cheers
