Right  now  I'm  celebrating  the  fact  that  I  didn't  get  SKY  so  I  could  watch ( so  very  nearly  said  enjoy yell)  the  England  v West Indies  test  cricket.  After  all  the  wonderful  reports  of  how  the  team  is  building  up  into  a  World  Beating  Side  it  seems  that  it's  just  another  race  to  the  pits.  I'm  getting  the  feeling  that  watching  Sunday  football  between  a  couple  of  over age  pub  teams  will  bring  much  more  excitement  &  pleasure  until  Easter Egg  Rolling  commences  wink

I think that after this debacle is done, there should be a fair few 'suspensions'  due to folk claiming, falsely, to be Test Standard cricketers  and / or Selectors !!yell

What I can’t understand is why Butler and Bairstow can be resting when they are playing for their respective sides in the T20 Blast. Mind you Bairstow top scored last evening in the Vikings’ win.

The other thing that is beyond comprehension is how a couple of the current side are allowed anywhere near an England team. They are consistent, however, failing again.

Now now Roger, you know how tiring it can be watching Footy, Tennis, Athletics on telebox  at the same time as listening to the grass growing at square leg wink.  You stated that a couple or so in the test team shouldn't really be there, but are they not providing the perfect excuse for the return of Stokes, Buttler  whenever they feel the urge ??!

Must go now  it can take ages for the Cynical ones amongst us to go to sleep  innocent

24 hours later and the only cricket A B M has seen was entirely due to our Antipodean Friends !!  This present debacle is proof, should proof be needed, that the 'Rotation System' of team selection  is capable of ensuring that the worst of any squad will get plenty of 'caps'  and talented, workers get only the minimum. And to think that the present Selectorial Set-up, following on from the previous Bubble-fixated tours is barely a good year old.  Heaven preserve our Team when the system is fully bedded in.  RANT ONLY JUST STARTED

Sorry for shouting  embarassed

As I see it rotation has come about as a result of the fact that certain players have been away playing in the IPL.

I googled the ECB central contract and found that it’s worth £700,000 per annum excluding bonuses. I read somewhere that with bonuses players on such contracts could expect to trouser north of £900,000 and the captain would get £1million+

The question must be what sort of contract at such levels of remuneration allows players to tire themselves out to the extent that they can’t fulfil their obligations to the nation team by playing for mega bucks in the IPL

Anyhoo there’s little chance of the current team earning any win bonus with their present level of play.😳

Just seen Eng-er-land win the second T20International against Sri Lanka ~~ Like the first one t'was a bit one sided and, as such, might give them hopes and aspirations above their station and I'm not talking of Cardiff Central either  sealed

Although not Test Match related it's great to read that Jimmy Anderson took his 1000 first class wicket today. Bowling, appropriately enough, from the James Anderson End, the 38-year-old's figures of 7 for 19 were his best at Old Trafford. He becomes the 216th bowler to take 1 000 first-class wickets, the last pacer to reach the mark was Andy Caddick in 2005!!

Congratulation to such a great bowler.

Seven , or so I believe, of the total ODI squad including management { ?? undecided } now tested +ve for something called Covid 19,  what ever that may be, so now a new squad nicely assembled  ready for the commencement of The Pakistan Series  -- I just wonder who will be playing who and, given the weather, when ??

Many Good wishes to Jimmy A for a long & successful career,  The lad seems to doing his best within the C19 Rules & Regs  ! { more than some muppets I can think of  yell  }

Ben Stokes has done a great job captaining the England ODI team to two successive comfortable victories over the Pakistan team. Today was his 100th ODI and everything he has done as captain has turned to gold. The messages he would have given the team, to go out and play with freedom, have got through.The tactical bowling changes and the field changes he's made have been really impressive.
