Sensational news today with a Middle East shiekh purchasing Bristol Rovers. Rumours have circulated already that Lionel Messi has been lined up but a local source (goes by the name of Moulesy) has been quoted as follows:

"He's alright this Messi guy but can he cut the mustard down in the depths of League 2 eh? I think not, he'll be kicked to bits, besides we have to maintain standrads and we don't want anyone who's been investigated by the Tax people in Spain, no sirree. We should splash out and buy that Simpson guy from the Orient plus Knuckles "break your legs" Smith to shore up the defence. The pies could also do with a bit of improving..

Remember you heard it here first.

I'm brushing up my Jordanian right now, W! Is it a good thing? Time will tell, but at least it's given our idiot ( sorry, far-sighted) ex chairman a way out of his obsession with putting one over on Saintsbury's. Question is, will we have to start saving up for inflated admission prices? Jury's out on this one!

BTW, in the good old Eastville days Rovers won awards for their meat pies - best in the league 1987/88. Now they sell "proper" Cornish Pasties. But I hear Sheep's Eyeball Suet Puddings are going to be introduced soon! Wink

Moulesy, you are a hoot! Very funny, hope things go well for Rovers. Think positive, at least it isn't an Italian takeover a la Leeds United!Happy

Off to see the new look Rovers thrash the mighty Morecambe in the rain tomorrow. Should be OK as long as they play the second half facing East! Hope they'll let me take my prayer mat in with me. Wink

BTW I was 20 years out about the meat pies, just checked and it was 67/68 when they won the award.

For a moment I thought you were comparing HKR with Hull City! Two different codes mind. Then remembered that Bristol has two AS teams, isn't one called the Pirates or something to do with gas?

First part of the plan worked well then. A resounding 2-1 victory! Onwards and Upwards (must Google the Jordanian for that! Wink. Use left and right arrows to navigate.)
