Microsoft have not sorted all their bugs in Win 10 yet.  Best to wait for the next full update or service pack for Win 10.

Have a look.at what personal details Win 10 harvests from their customers.

Hi, I'm the OH & also downloaded windows 10 to laptop by mistake.  I am getting used to it but still a lot to get my head round as I have never had anything other than a basic phone & Windows 7 on laptop. Hubby using his tablet all the time now.  Am curious  as to what personal details is ''harvested'' from customers but wouldn't know how to look for it. On the advice of my grandson I am now using Firefox instead of Explorer & find this OK

I also use Firefox as my main browser.Like many i,m self taught on the computer but i,m no expert. It can be very frustrateing when something changes on your PC for no apparent reason and you cant rectify it.No matter what windows system your useing it should not be difficult to alter your settings but alas thats not always the case Sad.

Not had a problem with mine & it seems to run very well & a little bit faster too. The only thing I cannot find a way of doing with 10 is the ability to have the temp internet files cleared when I come out of the browser. Regards, Roy

Ours has speeded up our slow broadband, it has taken me a while to get used to it. Regarding "harvesting information" you can opt out of this by changing the optional settings. I use the customise and control tab, top right on the tool bar to clear browsing data, using "more tools."

IMO, Win 10 is about the worst operating system that Microsoft have produced.  I use the analogy of buying a house with a large overgrown garden.  You have to cut hard back, dig, kill the pernicious weeds and get back to the bare ground before you can see what you want to grow.

I've just got a new machine with Win 10 - yeuch!  I installed Classic shell to get a proper start button and desktop.  I removed all the live tiles, set downloads to 'metered' , stopped peer to peer communications and didn't  set up onedrive.   It's been well reported that rather than speeding up anything, Win 10 hogs internet resource and slows down anything sharing your internet.

I certainly won't upgrade this laptop - Win 8 is fine, and I'm looking at replacing Win 10 with Ubuntu.

Again the OH. Thank you Brue from Somerset for clear directions of where to set options. Did this OK. Will keep looking at it to make sure nothing changes 'on its own' or by my hitting wrong shortcut keys.
