This post could be placed in any number of sections so thought I would place in here under General. I am sure the Champions will have their own view s

We are currently staying on Les Rivages site in Millau   in Southern France adjacent to a shallow fast flowing river. (Overseas sites!). We are pitched on a raised bank right next to the river. Just imagine a CC site and it is nothing like it

This morning a number of fishermen  ( hobbies section!)  were  prowling up and down the bank jabbering away as fishermen tend to do. As they had installed hi viz   tape across the river in numerous locations, we assumed that there was sort of match planned. This toing and froing went on for an hour at least and we were   thinking   “When are they going to start”.

Suddenly a pick up towing a trailer parked right outside our awning  ( Kama Rally 260) and the tank on the back of the pickup contained live  fish  when were  transported to the river in closed buckets and the fish were literally thrown into the water.

4 hrs later and still no fishing has actually started. I’m assuming that they are waiting for the fish to acclimatise but that is only my view

A short while ago a two man canoe came  floating  down the river and  two fishermen were shouting at them to turn around!  Who do these fishermen think they arel

Finally thinks are picking up and around 40 fishermen are getting ready for action!!!!

According to a Dutchman I was conversing with (in English obviously) he has seen a poster which indicates this match, possibly one of a series, is to find the best fisherman in France.

Do you not think that buying   fish to release into a river to catch is cheating? Laughing

Update, …. The fish must be either dizzy or stupid. They have been catching the fish (same fish?) at a fair rate of knots, early on there was a fish being caught every minute. 5 hrs later it has slowed down.  Match  finished after 6 hrs and started again the next day at 8.30 - these fishermen are really keen!
