Wearing unofficial Medals

Upon attending Armed Forces Day last month I noticed a  number of Veterans wearing quite a few unofficial medals upon their chest, in other words, self certificated commemorative medals. To the onlooker who has never served within the Armed Forces themselves they would not know anything different, but to those of us that have served and have been awarded official MOD campaign medals, these said veterans appear as if they have seen more active service than us.

What are your thoughts upon wearing unofficial (self certificated) medals, agree or disagree?
