War memorials

Have you ever changed your mind about how you view a foreign war memorial?

Was on holiday in Cyprus the other week and whilst visiting a town (as tourists do) came across a war memorial.  Decided to read it and was initially dismayed to see it was for a local Eoka lad who had lost his life.  But, remembering what country I was in, changed my mind and considered him to be a freedom fighter, fighting the oppression of the Brits.

I have no doubt that these days we would label him with a word beginning and ending in ‘T’.
