Tricks of memory

This IS NOT because I have had more than two birthdays since I left school, because I've always been this way.

If a repeat program comes on TV, and I have seen it, I know within a very short space of time. If I browse a book I've read, I very quickly know. Once I've driven somewhere I can go back without the need of a map. If I've seen a person before, I know that I have and usually remember where and what the circumstances were.

What is puzzling me is that I can't remember peoples' names. I am really really bad at this. I read somewhere that it is because those people aren't important to me. That is totally wrong. I simply forget names.

Does anyone else suffer from this?
