The More Things Change

'The more things change, the more they stay the same' as the saying goes.

Some say that electricity on site should be metered. Do they really think that will make there stay on site cheaper?

Some say that the CC should bring back deposits as they cannot book the pitches that they want because those pitches are booked up. Do they really believe that will improve availability.

Some want to be able to book hardstanding (including me) the truth though is that I would be 'all right Jack' as I tend to book early. Those who feel unable to book until just before the off would have grass on many sites or go elsewhere.

Some think that the CC should provide servicing for those not using the CC sites. Not sure how that helps the typical member. Not sure how that helps areas of the country where there is a perceived problem of wild camping or helps the standing of the CC in such areas.

I am sure there are other things that some think would be the best thing since sliced bread and progress .............. but would they??

I was simply trying to clarify my own views Rocky as much as anything. Although interested in others reasonable views rather than their Self righteously shrouded self interested views. Not noted any friction prior to your post fella. smile

That was not friction ET-just thinking out loud(2nd post with a smile on my facelaughinglaughing) it's how you read it, positive thinking helpssmile

Then you missed the point of my post.

The friction was there just under the surface in your OP, Easy. Have you not realised it's the action of a troll-like poster to keep stirring up contentious issues?

Not my intent TW.

Maybe not but that's the impression created.

Ask yourself how it looks to someone else to see issues guaranteed to stir up debate raised yet again all in one thread when debate is already ongoing elsewhere.

I'll tell you how it looks - suspicious.

The debate elsewhere is purely about metered electricity. I had hoped to receive folks honest thoughts TW and not debate necessarily. Cannot say that the Electricity metering was a heated discussion however. The odd accusation perhaps. Maybe there is an odd accusation in this thread too. Not to worry though TW as I can see where you are coming from.

Since there seem to be very few new posters these days and this is in General Chat it seems unlikely that many are going to suspect ET is trolling.😂

However, in the spirit of the OP. On lower graded sites I would like to see the whole site WiFi switched off at weekends and moved to a hot spot area, such as the information room. This might then mean the WiFi remains usable at busy times. At the moment, certainly off peak, whole site works well all week but often collapses at a weekend. This is of no benifit to anyone, as it is then sometimes unusable until reset.

I have been on sites with hotspot areas and almost without exception I will not use the wifi. If it is not available at the caravan then it is of no use to me.

Not had the weekend problem though Steve

Must admit that my personal preference would be for a grass pitch rather than a stone chip surface. It does annoy that often there are insufficient grass pitches available.

On many sites they do not seem in short supply. Grass has less takers than hard from my experience. However given extended wet weather its popularity might decline
