It will be our 47th Wedding Anniversary in late April and I want to take the DCOS away somwhere nice for a 3 night break.

In 2014 we went to Alderney for a break and that was great, so we could repeat that, but I was wondering about the Isles of Scilly?  If so has anyone any recomendations re nice Hotel etc?

I am really surprised at the lack of comment. Surely someone has been caravanning in Cornwall and taken the opportunity to explore the Islands whilst down there. I can't be the only one who has done it that way!

Well I have been to Tresco TF and it really is very nice! But so are the other  islands and at least you can do boat trips out from whichever island you choose.Smile www.tresco.co.uk

Thanks Brue,  we intend to spend a couple of weeks or more, at the Tower Camping and caravan site near Buryon. We were there last year in June and it was really good. Only £16.50 per night with EHU.

The plan is to go over to the Scillies for a few nights whilst we are there. If nothing else it saves us making the trip down to cornwall twice in one year!

We have been to Cornwall many times, but not quite as far as Buryon.  We now think we have been missing a lot because based on last year we found a lot to see around there and some good food available too!

Whoops!  got it wrong as usual!  The site was Towerpark, and the nearby village St Buryan!

See, - thats the trouble with doing it from memory.

Was working in management consultancy for an international accounts firm and they had to do a marketing thing for Tresco.  It sounded wonderful, but that's all.  SorryKiss

Long  long  time  since  I  went  to  Scilly!  Three  of  us  humping  tents  etc  etc  from  Crewe  to  St  Marys  by  train  &  Scillonia  l l l  --  then  up  to  The  Garrison  for  the  site.

Staggeringly  quiet  &  beautiful  with  inter  island  ferry  services  provided  by  a  weird  arrangement  of  medium,  small  &  tweeny  boats.  It's  a  very  different  world  down  there  &  none  the  worse  for  that  I  must  say.

If  you  and  the  Good  Lady  can  manage  a  gentle  stroll,  TF,  you  can  have  a  very  pleasant  albeit  very  quiet  time  there  !

P.S.  But  a  leeetle  bit  noisier  on  Friday  Nights  after  the  "Gig  Racing"  I  seem  to  recall,  Hic Embarassed  !!

Tresco is lovely, no vehicles allowed, we were met by a tractor and hired bikes to get around while we were there, or walked, the Gardens are beautiful, interesting to see the cruise ships stop off for the day as people visit the gardens,

Tresco is a good base, quieter than St Marys; the helicopter service has been withdrawn, so I think travel is now via St Marys. Tresco is very pretty, as is Bryher and St  Martins and little St Agnes is worth a trip. Boat trips around the islands are a great way to see bird life, seals etc. Google Earth gives a good view as nothing changes much.

Hotels on Tresco and St Martins are very pricey but then you don't need a car. The coastal walking is lovely. Tresco gardens well worth a visit.

Enjoy it all, a very lovely place!
