Just heard from family up in Yorkshire , there has been a sonic  boon. Two RAF Typhoon jets fron Coningsbury have been scrambled to intercept some sort of security risk , thenk goodness we have the RAF '

Apparently they have escorted a civvy airplane to Newcastle airport .

Oh so not the Russians in our air space , the police have now released a statement saying no cause for concern about the planes.

It was an Air France flight that was not responding to radio contact. 

We ended up out in the street checking our roof was OK , as were many of the neighbours. Perhaps we should have got a street party going..

+ 1 there, it is not only the pilots but the infrastructure that tracks 'un responsive' aircraft, a good video of how it all works is

Sonic booms used to happen very often when I used to work offshore in the southern north sea in the 1970/80's

We live very near the coast and when concorde was flying it was supposed to slow down before it got to the land. Sometimes it didn't and we got many sonic booms. Miss it really.
