Really shouldn't laugh but ....

We were down on Perranporth seafront this morning having a coffee and watching the world go by ......when along comes this rather "large" family - Dad is a big tattooed fella, shaven head, vest and 3/4 length shorts (accurate description, not stereotyping but apologies for any offence ... Wink), Mum is also large and tattooed and 3 boys, ages I'd guess maybe 8 to 15 or so and also rather large but lacking tattoos. All carrying their fish & chip box - this was mid morning, so I'm guessing elevenses for them.

Anyway, I digress - on the seafront are a number of prominent "do not feed the seagull" notices, there for obvious reasons I'd have thought. But Dad decides these notices don't apply to his family and encourages the kids to put chips on the wall to attract the seagulls which sure enough they did. What Dad didn't realise is that one of the grateful birds would repay his kindness by flying overhead and depositing a truly magnificent dollop of "seagull mayonnaise" right in the middle of his food. Cue much profanity which obviously I couldn't begin to repeat on CT.

I thought we did very well to keep straight faces - which is more than his kids did.

Sometimes things just seem to happen for a reason - happy days!!! Laughing

Classic Moulesy, always good fun to be had where seagulls are around. St Ives and Mousehole variety are particularly accurate around fish and chips! There's always some Wally who ignores good advice. I am all for natural justice!

Herring gulls have become a pest since the fishing fleet has all but gone. They have become reliant on feeding from humans who feed them on their day trip or weeks holiday. Locals have to put up with them all year.

We were at Looe a number of years ago and a gull took the chocolate flake from my grandson's 99 cone as quick as a flash.

Just a few weeks ago in June we were sat on the seafront at Lyme Regis when the urge to munch on fish and chips overcame me.

Having swatted off a few gulls I said to a couple sat next to us on the sea wall and right next to a "dont feed the gulls" notice how brain dead anyone must be to need a notice to be told not to feed the gulls. Upon imparting this undoubted truism they got up, scowled at me and stomped off.

My other half began falling about laughing as they had just been feeding the gulls before I came back with the fish and chips.

I have a friend that required first aid having been attacked by a herring gull, viscous if they choose to be to get you to move on or want your food.

As a good Yorshireman, the chances of a gull getting my fish and chips is zeroCool

Did have a Herring Gull take part of my sandwich out of my hand when sitting on the promenade at Llandudno a few years back. It actually swooped down on e from behind me and came in over my shoulder. Cut my hand slightly.
