After reading the posts, I don't think the EV is suitable for me. They are advertised as an Urban vehicle, which rules me out.

I am sure that city / large town dwellers, where the air is most polluted will welcome them.

Perhaps one upside might be total countrywide Mobile phone coverage🛰📞

There was a meeting in Norfolk last week wth the big four phone networks to try to find a solution to the large areas without coverage

One of our friends who is here with us is a London black cab owner driver,(arrived yesterday) the conversation got round to the EV black cab  as the chinese company that owns volvo and the black cab manufacturer, are no longer making diesal cabs, but hibrids, as the infrastructure for fast charge of EVs in London is many years away it would need another power station ,and most charging points that are available are low Kw output whch would not be viable for cab charging when they can be doing 40,000 miles a year

That is the "blue sky thinking"that is being trolled out but as he and his coleages who are at the sharp end are saying, is not what is going to happen, and is just "govenment  speaking" to those who want to hear it

Typical London, we will be zero carbon.  Unfortunately other parts of the country will pick up their carbon bill, building and running generation plants etc, etc, but never mind we’re ok ⚡️

Unfortunately not reliable in the UK.  My solar panels generate less than a third off the output in the winter than in the summer.  Today due to the strength of the wind the local turbines means the vast majority are feathered and not producing.  In fact our standby gas fired power station seems to generate nearly every day.

Ah ok then, I must have misread about the air pollution in London?

According to our cabby friend that the Hibrid buses that are in use run mostly on internal combustion engine as in hard stop start use the batts are unable to cope and to increase the capacity, would need a large weight increase

IF all vehicles have to be electric, what happens at large festivals, Agricultural shows, steam fair, Glastonbury etc when vehicles need charging, will these events die out.
