Have to admit I have been prompted by Husky who mentioned Wrotham village hall in his/her post. I lived in that area up to 3 years ago. The actual pronunciation of Wrotham is Rootam, it isnt far away from Meopham (pronounced Meppam) and the local country park was called Trotiscliffe Park (pronounced Trosley). Anyone got any other examples of odd pronunciations? Clearly old English influences and I wonder how many there are that seem odd in this modern world?
