I was chatting to the fitter when getting new tyres the other week. He suggested Tim Berners-Lee but I pointed out as you had to be dead to qualify, I felt he would decline the honour.

I suppose that my old chemistry teache , long deceased, qualifies so may I nominate 'Slogger Sledge'.

He really was great and enjoyed teaching - particularly if he could explode something during the lessons.

Personally I'd like to see Rosalind Franklin but I don't think she has enough name awareness for our current generation.

I can't actually remember if I've ever held a £50 note, or even seen one? Who uses them?
