Map Coordinates in the Handbook

I notice that all map coordinates are given in Latitude and Longditude, What a waste of time this is  only any good in Google Maps.

I used to tutor Map and Compass to Youth Leaders in a couple of organisations. We used O S Maps using the Sheet Number and Grid Square number.

The Armed Services do the same.

The emergency services do the same.

Other Caravan and Camping Clubs do the same.

D of E do the Same.

I tried to use the Lat. and Long numbers on a OS Map where I know the site and could not work them out.

I put the Lat, and Long Numbers into Google Maps on my telephone and the result was 200 Meters out.

I have owned 3 cars with Sat Navs. and none took Lat. and Long entries.

That means only the Caravan and Motorhome use these useless figures.

You are wrong and doing the membership diss-services.

Moderator Comment - Graham, I believe this subject has been well covered in this discussion here https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/sites-touring/certificated-locations/os-map-grid-refs-gone Rather than having two discussions on the go I have closed this one but invite you to contribute to the main discussion. There is information from site staff on why the decision was taken and how they are monitoring member reaction.
