"I get so angry at the general ignorance that prompts people to complain about the words 'Chairman', or 'spokesman' (for example). In these examples the 'man' element has nothing to do with gender but the root of the word is 'manual' relating to work."
So 'Chair manual' merely means the chair works or 'Spokes manual' tells you how to build a wheel for your bicycle?

I'm a man...I (occasionally) get the flu....so I'll have MANFLU....end of!
Are we not getting far too "PC" in this country anyway?
Write your comments here...I hear there is a particularly virulent strain called Alban Man Flu. Apparently it's to do with not having under garments! Is that PC?

Can't comment on that one as I very seldom, if ever, wear a kilt....and even when I do I've never, ever, gone "commando".
