At first glance, this may appear that it belongs in the accessories section but bear with me. The technology regarding LED lighting has moved apace in the last 4 years. I think we can all agree with that! Since buying a 5mt strip of double bright white LEDs from the NEC last spring and setting them up in my awning as the " awning light" on most vans are less than adequate. When I eventually tried them I was amazed and really impressed at the amount of light these things put out. Reading a book when it is inky black outside is no problem. So impressed was I that I have virtually converted the whole house to LED lighting. I have just completed the kitchen downlighters and again I am amazed by the improvement but the main thing will be on the electricity bill. Just in the kitchen, I have dropped from 400watts (8 x 50w tungsten bulbs)to just 56watts - 8 x 7w LED clusters without the horrendous heat generated with all the associated risks that brings, AND the light is better! I will eventually complete the house and I look forward to much lower bills. I know the fittings are more expensive but they should last for years. Has anyone else completed the task and able to report the savings made?
