Internet Explorer

After a reinstall of W7 on our old PC we could not get IE back so now use Mozilla Firefox. I’ve found it faultless so far. I use Edge on the W10 lappy and find it fine. I hate Chrome. 

We stopped using Chrome, after repeated sessions with it we didn't like it. Edge didn't work well at all. I think it's the poor quality of this web site that has highlighted possible problems but I don't think it's our browser. So will stick with the tried and tested.

David , I have just had my pc rebuild/repaired after disc failure and have busy reinstalling programs etc. I use a variety of browsers including I E 11 ,when in edge I typed in I E and was told by Microsoft that it was installed as part of windows 10 ? I had to change my email address as was advised by my then ISP that a Gmail account was a good choice and this has certainly proved a good choice. ☺😊

Kept having a problem with edge as every time it updated it conflicted with AVG.  Now run Crome with Avast and no more problems

As a regular internet user, I have had some issues with 'Edge' myself.

After much deliberation and procrastination, I decided that I should be using Internet banking. Opened Edge and downloaded the app. so far so good. Now to open the app. Can't be done, it doesn't work in Edge. 

I must confess that I am in the Insider Preview group for Windows 10, so always have the latest version of the O.S. and software. Sadly not everyone updates their software as often to keep pace with it. I.E 11 is older software and should work with most websites, however I find that Google's Chrome is a 'does what it says on the tin' Browser, even after updates.

As an assistant website designer it is difficult to create websites that work on every platform, android, windows, Mac, etc. and Edge is now using HTML5 which is the new standard in coding. Sadly older websites have difficulty in handling these new codes.

So until every website updates you will come across these problems.

I am thinking that CAMC is using the PHP, MySQL, HTML comb  for their site, so I advise the use of Chrome to avoid possible conflicts.

I have W10, do not like 'Edge', 'Firefox' won't allow me to have my own homepage started in a new tab, 'Chrome' is OK but settled on 'Slimjet'. It uses Chrome technology and extensions, not bloated and allows complete customisation.

Coming back on my original post I now use a mix of Edge/Chrome/Firefox I use them for different functions but for everyday browsing it is Chrome. However I did discover that some online banking websites did not like Chrome.

You don't have to use Edge in tablet mode, click on notifications (bottom right next to time) and select desktop mode.

I too have found Microsoft’s operating system’s evolution to be frustratingly poor, and largely unnecessary. It seems to me that there’s been more backward steps than benefits since as far back as Win 2000. Apple upgrades, in comparison provide intuitive improvements until you start to use Word or Excel, which for some inextricable reason differ from their PC based cousins. So we’re almost 100% Apple these days, with just a PC laptop for those occasions when running programs which aren’t available for Macs.

I really don’t know how my laptop works but found this discussion informative.  Use a laptop widows 10, Edge (searches using bing) and Chrome.  Used to use IE but didn’t know it was loaded as part of Windows 10 and often wondered about my McAfee showing it clears cookies etc from IE as well as Edge and Chrome even though I haven’t searched using IE so I guess there are occasions when IE is used possibly by Edge (bing).  Thanks for info.
