Hi. I'd welcome any views! I insured my 7.5m campervan with Grove & Dean recently - free breakdown insurance nailed the deal. However, when I moved the address where it's normally kept from my front drive to secure storage at Ashridge Farm, they increased my premium by 20%. Ashridge has CCTV, is manned 24/7, has two security gates plus the van has a tracker, so when it moves, I know about it. On my front drive, all it had was a wheel clamp. Is this normal for campervan insurers?

Not sure about campervans but a change of address for cars can have an effect. My daughter moved out and went a few miles and her insurance went up, not by much but still up. Other daughter had the opposite happen. I think therefore that it may be the crime rate in that area that can affect premiums?

One thing I have learnt about insurance companies is that they all have their own funny ways!!! I was charged extra for swapping from steel to alloy wheels and the next season model of my motorhome came with alloys as standard!!! However what you really need to do is compare the final price with other insurers, for instance have you checked out the Club policies? If you are half have through a premium year probably worth waiting until renewal.

Insurance companies. It seems go by the risk in the area of a postcode, so even if the storage is secure ,the area may just be quite a high risk ,and with the  type of High value properties in Ashwell ,it could well be
