As far as my roots are concerned my ancestral home is Yorkshire and I am soon to return. However, my children were born in what was Humberside where we lived at that time and haven't a clue where they are from.

Now many folk from Hull still consider themselves to be Yorkshire folk as do many from Middlesborough.

It appears  from my experience that my fellow Yorkshire folk remember their history and accept their ancient roots but what of those from Lancashire? Do those from old Manchester and Liverpool still consider themselves as Lancastrians?
I'm not wishing to start a modern day War of the Roses but I am interest in where folk consider they come from and where their alegencies lie.
