Free cavity wall insulation?

Not even remotely caravan or motorhome related topic!

Does the government still run a free cavity wall insulation programme?

They did a few years ago but I can't see any specific government website detailing this.

Thanks

I think local councils sponsor some schemes, Phil. Whether they provide what you want, or even get you a genuinely cheaper deal, I don’t know.

Be aware, though, that it does not seem to be a Gov.uk website.

"This website is an information site operated by IMK, 32 Joseph Wilson Ind Est. Whitstable. Kent. CT5 3PS."

It just means it’s a company probably hoping to make a quid but that doesn’t necessarily make the info inaccurate.smile

Try and google, the green deal, be aware that you will come up with a lot of commercial companies but I’m sure you can sort the wheat from the chaff.

Often the problem with these "Government" offers is that the companies touting for business insist on doing a survey which you often have to pay for. Sometimes the offers are dependent on the recipients claiming some sort of benefits.

This is the Government website on the "Green Deal"

Thanks for all your replies.

I note that some of the schemes [like E.On] require you be on some kind of benefit - which we aren't.

I will investigate the Green Deal scheme & see if we would comply with their requirements.

Thanks again,

I seem to think most of the deals are based on either age/vulnerability or being on some sort of benefit. I investigated Mum and Dad having a new boiler installed a few years ago (to replace one 35+ years old!) I did get them a good deal, purely because they were in mid 80's, and I think cavity wall insulation was mentioned there as well. But they had to put towards the cost of the boiler. That was with British Gas, who did a good job, easy to work with.

just be careful as this cavity wall stuff has caused serious problems with damp for thousands of customers around the country and costs a fortune to get it removed.
