Finally got around to uploading photos from the recent trip.I promised you some photos of St.Pauls church and the remains of the Abbey in Jarrow.

The Chancel of the church is well over 1440 years old and is the original church. Other bits have been added in later years. The window is one of the 3 remaining original windows  and can been seen on the right hand side in the full church photo, one partially hidden by the bush.The Codex is Bede's original tome, held at the centre just opposite the church. The exhibition centre is excellent for information.

It was an enjoyable day out and most informative.

Your photos bring back memories or our visit several years ago. Uch a tranquil place. It's certainly a good day out and the exhibition was great.  We wandered around the garden and watched Nissan cars being loaded onto a boat - they certainly didn't hang around.
