Food shortages.

I suspect most have seen news articles showing empty supermarket shelves. How many have actually found difficulty in the last few months? The only thing that I have not seen recently is crayfish tails.

We were in Lidl today and noticed a few empty spots on the shelves, the only thing we didn't get was sparkling flavoured water, whereas there was plenty of the still varieties.

We like Aldi sparkling flavoured waters, but, quite happy to buy still, and then throw in an effervescent vitamin C tablet.👍😁

It seems by reports that there is quite a shortage of "real" chefs in Hospitality venus, and to get them in some areas quite big incentives are being offered ,so meal prices will be on the upwink

And there was a HGV driver on the radio yesterday saying that drivers at his firm had been given a 20% pay rise to keep them?

We have not noticed any special shortages here - there have always been days when local outlets have run out of stock and we are seeing exactly the same now. All the supermarkets have full shelves exactly as normal. w/n Yorks border, with Lidl and Tesco just a walk away.

We have been on a 4+ week tour and therefore spent some time in whatever supermarket happened to be handy to where we were staying. We have noticed that things are definitely getting worse and have difficulty in acquiring our preferred items at several different named shops.

We popped into Sainsburys in Devizes on Monday morning and quite frankly wasted our time. Sparse doesn't begin to tell the truth and we overhead one local asking a member of staff about a popular brand of cat food and he said they have no idea when they are likely to get some as he has had to ask H.O. for this item for some other people. Heavens, the woman couldn't even get it from Amazon.

Good job M&S were able to fill our bags, even if it did cost a little more than normal.

We are just home from our trip, shopping needed soon, so we will see how things are here.

Shopped at Lidl this morning. The one thing that I did notice was far shorter dates on things that I bought than normal.

Been out shopping today, M&S seemed fairly well stocked, Waitrose not too bad, though burgers were a bit sparse, so freezer now refilled.    Lidl had no orange juice.  Otherwise we got most things on our list for those shops.

Will need to try Tesco, Morrisons and Aldi for other things, and things we forgot, but no rush.
