Just bought a pump up fence paint sprayer,  mainly for the awkward areas that you can't get to with a brush. But I wondered if the normal brush on fence paint (if diluted ) could be used in the sprayer. The problem being I have gallons of the ordinary stuff , and I have noticed the sprayable type is quite expensive. Anyone tried this ?

I've just started to paint the fence today.  Have done the shed and OH put up another bit of fence at the front.  Have always used brown but have now decided to paint it green.  Terrible.  On new treated wood: wonderful.  On treated wood: terrible (brown and green - yuk).  Up to now there are various shades of the green.  The paint is supposed to be Forest Green, but we've got mud green and fern green at the momentHappy

Our next door neighbour decided to spray paint his side of the fence. On our return home we found that it had sprayed through the fence. There were tiny spots of paint all over our patio furniture, it looked awful and it took us hours to clean it all off. He did apologise, didn't realise that it had sprayed through, says he will stick to using a brush in future. So please be careful with the spray painting.

We had the same with our neighbour, he sprayed the fence on a very windy day and it covered the side of our caravan, the frame and glass on new patio doors, shrubs in the border and a water feature.  Needless to say, we were not happy with them.  So if you are going to spray, make sure your neighbour is aware so they can move anything away from the fence, as how ever much you are careful it will go through.  Mind having said that, last year whilst we were away, he painted the fence, this time with a brush.  We came back to find streaks of fence paint on our side, which is a different colour from our side.  The thing is it is our fence and should at least have asked our permission before painting it.

If it was their fence, yes fine they don't need our permission, but it isn't their fence, it is ours.
