False Economy

For the last 60 years, I have had a recurring virus to my eye, which if untreated could cause loss of vision. Each time I feel it coming on, I go straight to casualty at the eye hospital, have some initial treatment and given medication and then book to see a specialist whilst there. Now in the interests of saving money the system has changed. Now after my casualty visit is complete I have to wait for a letter to be produced then have to take it to my GP. I then hand it to reception and was told to come back for it after two days, when the doctor had signed it to approve seeing a specialist. The receptionist gave it to the secretary, who gave it to the doctor, who gave it to the secretary, who gave it to the receptionist who gave it to me. I then bought an envelope and sent it back to the hospital. So far a week later, no response has been received. The medicines given to me to last me until I saw the specialist have now run out, and so I now have to go back into London, to the hospital again. Where are the cost savings coming from?
