Anyone holidaying within 30 miles of Denbigh should consider a visit to this excellent museum. I went with OH and two other friends. It is about 27 miles from us. There is a link below but the website really does not do it justice. We spent a really enjoyable 4.5 hours there. We were all amazed at how really good it was as the website really did not represent it well.

Our visit was on a Sunday and it was sad that we were the only visitors that day. We arrived just after 11am and left about 4.45pm. Admission £5 adults. £2 under 16 and free for under fives I think. Includes free tea and biscuits

Please do. It is fronted  by a guy who goes by the name of Sparrow Harris (real name Robin). A very intersting guy, he had a privelliged upbringing. He is now 77 years of age. He worked for the Kray twins for a while as he had a band that used to play in a venue below their casino and ran that for a short time. He was definitely from a priveledged background as when he first went to Lomdon working on car body repair he had a flat in Belgravia I think.

I suspect that the original museum was set up by his Aunt (OBE) it was burnt down in 2010 in an arson attempt, A lot was lost. I read that the insurance was £100K. Somebody, probably Sparrow, has contributed an awful lot more. The place is run by a trust that also provides accomodation and support for those disadvantaged. The original trust was set up ny Sparrow i(n 2006 from memory) when the original local mental health hospital was closed. They provifde support and accomodation for those with mental health probltems, Ex offenders etc There is also a boxing gym on site as Sparrow set one up over 60 yrears ago. There is probably a nice walk around the farm estate but we did not have the time to check.

Sparrow was a life long friend of John Peel as well as being friendly with the brains behind the great train robbery
