It's good to hear that members of CT are receiving their vaccinations, good luck to all those yet to have theirs. It seems like a long haul till we get everyone sorted and hear the results of the present vaccines.

I'm leaving this open for non political comments as per the guidelines. Hope you can add your own experiences and thoughts.

My first jab comes up tomorrow, I'm so glad we have research institutions that have got us this far! And I am planning breaks away in the hope of improvements on the horizon.

It’s worth repeating here-the Kent variant is being controlled by the current crop of Vax offerings. It’s the South African one that is elusive there is however a tweak to the vax in production for later in the year that’ll zap it👍🏻

Yes, Rocky, Sir Patrick Vallance made that very point about the current vaxes coping with the Kent variant during yesterday's Downing Street briefing.

There seems to be a misunderstanding of this among some of the population which is spreading unnecessary concern.

It needs to be intelligently reported & repeated with honesty, too many folk take their news feeds from social media only. Stupid statements & scare stories are costing lives, they need stopping. Follow the science not the idiots👍🏻

There appear to be way too many getting their information generally from less well informed sources and social media to be honest. All sorts of influences making folks waver about getting the vaccine. Kind, informed persuasion is the key.

There is some well informed public media and, sadly, some ridiculous dross and crackpots around.

There was a piece on one of the news channels yesterday concerning the low take up of the vacine by the Asian Bangladesh  population and many it seems are taking notice of an Asian "crackpot" on social media who advises that if a steam/ vapour. Inhaler is used it will stop you contracting the virusyell

Claim: Inhaling steam over 100°C will "disintegrate" the coronavirus, because it is "fat".

Source: Tanzanian president John Magufuli (22 April 2020)

Verdict: There is no scientific evidence that very high temperatures or inhaling steam "kills" Covid-19.

The Tanzanian president urged his health ministry to "emphasize" steam inhalation as a way of treating Covid-19.
There is no evidence that inhaling steam can treat the virus, which replicates in cells, and experts warned the practice is dangerous.
While there are fats in the viral membrane of the virus, it is also misleading to call it "a fat" and that heat will "dissolve" it. Soap and water however will.

Isn't one of the African presidents currently advising steam inhalation?
