I wonder how many of you out there have suffered this awful bug that's going around - and if so what have you found helpful? I'm now into my 5th week. The one and only symptom seems to be constant coughing fits, with the frightening complication (in my case anyway) of not being able to breath in. I'm not asthmatic but this must be how it feels for you poor souls. Doc finally succumbed to prescribing antibiotics last week but to be honest it's not made that much difference. I've now passed it on to her-indoors and we're not speaking any more, not because we've fallen out, we just can't!

As recommended by our GP too, a shot of brandy in a honey and lemon drink last thing at night! He's retiring soon, I bet the younger ones won't advise the same.wink

Huskydog if I remember correctly honey and lemon were proven to be the best antidote not all that long ago!

thanks folks for all your advice and sympathy. Into week five now and actually beginning to feel human again. Sadly not the case for her-indoors who is still hacking like an old crow (no offense dear-heart).  I seem to remember saying "I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy" then I gave it to her!

I prefer whisky with my lemon and honey. Shame they won't add it to my repeat prescription.😃

under  it--  I  think  if  the  poll  was  correctly  carried

out  it  would  be  a  much,  much  higher  ratio  than

Week 6 for me, I think, or maybe it's week 7.  Anyway,  I do believe I am on the mend, much less coughing today.

OH is much better too, only the occasional coughing fit.

Glad to know we are not alone.  We are suffering identically with most of the posts on here.  My daughter told my wife to add grated FRESH GINGER to the hot lemon/honey mix...all in a cup of hot water...let it stand for a couple minutes, strain off ginger bits.

It seems to relieve symptoms.

It is dragging on............................................

I started my cough mid-October, and it began to go at the beginning of last week.  That's just over three months of this!  It's been unbelievable.  I've had two lots of antibiotics, Beconase spray to try and stop post-nasel drip, a chest x-ray and an ECG!  It looks as if I'm virtually clear of it now - just the occasional tickle.  I have never had a cough like this, and don't want it again, thank you very much.  It's been a nightmare.  Not been able to sleep at night - unable to lie down.  I've almost had panic attacks because of the state of my chest and throat, to speak nothing of the chest pain because of coughing (and the codeine prescribed to stop the pain) and the tiredness and exhaustion.  Please let me not have it again - EVER!!
