Christmas presents for the teacher

At a time when families are feeling the pinch financially, Why, of all the Local Authority jobs, do teachers need christmas presents from their pupils?.

As each year passes, parents are pressurised by their kids to spend more and more money on those presents. Each family feels obliged to go out and buy a more expensive item because another family spent much more than them last year. -- And so it goes on and on.

A few schools have made a ruling -- Absolutely NO presents under any circumstances. Why doesn't all the education authorities throughout the country insist on the same ruling.

After all kids wear a school uniform to ensure that there is no financial hierarchy in the school. Why then should the poorer parents have to compete with the well heeled  in the subject of presents for the teacher. Surprised
