Bank notes

So the old bank £10 note will go out of circulation next month. Will we miss it, is the new one any better? . The old  £10 note is set to go out of circulation next week on March 1, 2018. However, old notes can still be spent ahead of the cut-off date or exchanged at the Bank once this point has passed. Until March 1, the old £10 note will continue to be legal tender so can be spent freely.

I've seen bank notes from countries all over the world and I quite like those here in Costa Rica. Very colourful, easy to identify the different denominations and they depict the close relationship between the country, it's flora and fauna and its eco friendly attitude. Amongst the worst are the US bills, drab, old fashioned, all denominations the same size, they stick to each other and they smell really awful, even the freshly printed ones. Which countries notes do you like or dislike?

Timely reminder about the old £10 note.

I must admit I don't really think much about banknotes although I quite like the new UK ones as they seem more compact. The only other bank notes I come across recently are Euros. Mind when we did a tour of Europe in 1992 we needed six different currencies but can't say I was in favour of one over the other.

Hate  &  Detest  these  blasted  new  £5 & £10  notes,  so  slippery  that  the  shop  keepers  can  whip  em  out  of  my  hands  in  micro  seconds  !!

Seriously ( for a moment )  I  do  find  that  when  receiving  mixed  change,  I  now  prefer  coins  first  then  notes,  'cos  when  the  other  way  round  the  coins  have  an  increased  tendency  to  slide  off  on  to  the  floor !  Probably  'cos  the  notes  don't  wrinkle  as  they  used  to.

That's how I like to receive change 'ABM', coins in the palm first  then close thumb and forefinger onto the note(s) while hand is gently closing.

Simple 'ey money-mouthlaughing

When they first came out, I used to hate them too, but quite like them now.  They fit snugly into the back slot of my phone case - the old notes are too big so had to fold them.  The new ones are just the right size.

Yes I like the new 5 and 10 pound notes - smaller and apparently come OK out of a washing machine embarassed

We spent a summer in Peru in the early 90s they were changing over to the Sol from the inti and I have a 1 million inti banknote!
