Another unpleasant life event

Today is going to be one of those unhappy life events. Just been advised that my grandchildren's dog is going to have to be put to sleep today.  His legs have gone under him and he can no longer stand. It is doing him a kindness.

The really painful thing will be that my two grandchildren idolise him and having to break the news to the older one, who is only five, is going to be real difficult, as still trying to figure out what words you could ever conjure up to tell a five year old his best friend is never coming back?

Going to be a tough one..
