Another scam!

Unfortunately, I've been caught.

About a month ago I answered the door to be presented with a parcel to sign for and, although I didn't remember any outstanding orders, I took it in. It contained an iPad.

Within 10 or 15 minutes another man called and told me that the parcel had been delivered in error due to the numbers in my post code having been transposed. He was very convincing and plausible and we have had deliveries in the past that should have gone to an identically named street in the next village. I asked for a receipt which he provided on Yodel headed paper.

Apperently  I have been the victim of identity fraud, an Argos account has been set up in my name, and this sort of theft is rampant. The 'professional' thieves track the parcel, wait for it to be delivered and then knock and ask for the parcel To be returned.

This only came to light when I received a statement from Argos this morning. I have spent quite a long time on the phone to the fraud department and (fortunately) will not be responsible for the balance.

Please don't bother with any 'How could you be so silly?'  posts - I've been there! I'm posting this to try and prevent it happening to anyone else.
