A Spiders Christmas Journey

The night before Christmas, Knock, Knock on the door,
I rushed to find a spider on the floor.
Wet, tired and cold, I invited him in,
He entered walking bold, yet he was very thin.

I sat him down and I gave him some food,
He ate it and then burped, Now that was rude!
His body was shaking, his hands were a qwivver,
He explained his journey on how he crossed the river.

The little spider had walked for miles, but had no-where to stay,
He had lost his map and had lost his way!
I asked his name, I felt sorry for him,
He answered back, his name was Jim.

It was raining very hard, he could not leave,
He had a wet coat, which had only one sleeve.
I showed him a room, with a little stick bed,
Jim jumped in and laid down his head.

Next morning Jim rose after a good night’s sleep,
He explained a meeting that he had to keep.
He had a wife and a baby, with Christmas here,
The need to see them both was very clear.

In a bag he carried some presents, for both of them to open,
Its Christmas Day he must be home or his heart will be broken.
Toys and gifts he had to give, as well as hugs and a kiss,
With lots of love, Christmas not to miss.

Jim only had part of the address and didn’t know where to go,
Hopefully to get there before it begins to snow.
I had dried his clothes, even his eight shoes.
To help Jim to get there, I needed more clues.

He told me of the journey so far, with a walk along a road,
Plus the time he met a hungry Toad.
Then it all came to me, that where Jim was heading was very near,
In fact in my house, I looked at Jim, in his eye, a tear!

I lifted him carefully onto my hand and took him to his wife and baby boy,
He said ‘Thank You’, and jumped with joy!
He rushed off to give his family a hug, then he gave them each a gift,
He turned to me and began to say, ‘Thank you for the lift’.

As I turned to walk away, they shouted out very clear,
I replied back to them, ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’.
So remember this story please, Spiders have a Christmas too,
Just think of them and please don’t flush them down the loo!
