The original Thornton’s shops were lovely, but the boxes sold in supermarkets just aren’t the same. Guessing business rates and shop rentals have done for them, such a shame. Dad always bought Mum a big box of Thornton’s Continentals every Christmas. It fell to My OH after Dad passed away. Mum used to buy us a plain Easter Egg, then used her sugarcraft skills to make them very special, with our names.

I used to treat myself to a few chocs at the Thornton's outlet shop in Clarks Village (sometimes bought Easter Eggs there as they were skilled at adding the recipients names for free.) So that will be another gap in the retail quarter, we lost Thornton's in our local town a few years back. In fact we've now lost so many shops that a visit to our town will seem very drab, only Marks and Primark out of the larger stores left!
I think Thorntons produce chocolates for M&S, maybe others too?

They do Brue. Alfreton factory. Thornton’s were originally a Sheffield firm I think.
Have to say, my first port of call for nice chocolate is usually Aldi. Their premium Moser Roth products are very very nice. They have some nice Easter products out this year, bought Mum some lovely mini eggs in a box for her birthday. Love their version of the seashells as well๐
