Mrs One is quite partial to a glass or two of Gallo White Greneche Rose wine.  In the UK this normally cost £6.90 unless you buy 6 bottles with a special offer price of £5/bottle.  Went into a Real supermarket in Germany and their special offer price £3/bottle.  Will go back on Thursday and buy another couple of cases.smile

Rip off Britain suggests the shops are overcharging but the price difference is really down to a different tax regime in the UK. The fact that you can buy the wine in the UK for £5 a bottle, if you buy a case, suggests pretty good value to me. Obviously better if you can get it at £3 a bottle but how many bottle are you going to be able to bring back.

It was the irony of the situation, Germany a fairly large wine producer imports American wine then sells it cheaper than home grown wines.  I imagine that the German Government gives their own growers, shall we say, incentives as well.  I obviously understand the tax regimes but didn't want to meander into a T&Cs issue.

I suspect if they have enough supplies tomorrow we will buy another 4 cases, that should see the summer out for Mrs Onesurprised

One of our favourites too, Mrs K tells me our Asda regularly has it for £5, no need to buy 6 bottles.
