My family all prefer the home made variety as the supermarket ones are often just too 'sweet'.  I use good quality mincemeat and ordinary shortcrust pastry but they're eaten almost as fast as I can bake them. Happy

Put your spares on ebay.

Its homemade in our house too. Used to make my own mincemeat but have slipped last couple of years! Short crust pastry. I made loads and freeze them asap otherwise they've been eaten! We all dislike shop bought whoever makes them far too sweet and claggy.

Out of interest why did you buy gluten free?

You can't beat "Home Made mince pies". Much better than shop bought ones. My wife makes "exceedingly good"  Mince Pies.

Cheers ........K

Gluten free pastry is not good One. Don't cry

It's better than a few years ago but in most cases you'd be better eating the packaging

Pastry us one of the things I really struggle to make, not sure why Undecided so I usually buy them , at least that way they get eaten! Laughing

We have home made too.  Shortcrust pastry, good quality mincemeat with a bit of brandy or rum mixed in Wink

I usually make between 9 and 12 dozen Surprised  which I give to family and friends.  I won't be doing that many this year as we'll be away in the caravan Happy

Wow I make between 5 & 6 dozen, but don't givemany away, unless they are eaten in our house! Makes me look like a lightweight. You can always make early and freeze, they are great standby deserts too
