Hi folks. Well we are well into September and the apples are begging to be picked and juiced. Just returned home with a stack of apples from a neighbour's garden as our big apple tree is a bi annual cropper and this year it's resting. Last year it was heaving with Apple's. Every year now, we pick and with equipment we have purchased in the last 2 years, scrat (yes, scrat is a word!) and squeeze the pulp into gallons of lovely fresh apple juice. No, we don't produce cider, I know I could but we just either pour it into the 1 litre "zip" bags or the plastic milk bottles we have washed and kept for the juice then bang it in the freezer and take it out as we need it. It's gorgeous for breakfast or at any time. I thoroughly recommend you look into it. There must be thousands of tons of apples fall and rot every year. Our town has got together and we now have an "apple day" in the center where folk can bring their apples, have them "scratted" (pulped) and turned into juice. Try it.
