There was a diversion into breadmaking on the Coronavirus thread and a couple of folk suggested offering some recipes. So here's a starter! smile

Carrot & Fennel Seed Bread

This will make a medium sized loaf.

 Ingredients - 210 ml water

30 ml sunflower oil

10 ml clear hoNeyland

200 g grated carrot

500 g white bread flour

30 ml skimmed milk powder

2 generous tsp fennel seeds

1.5 tsp salt

1 tsp dried yeast.

To make - pour water, oil and honey into bread pan.  Sprinkle over the grated carrot.

Sprinkle over the flour, making sure it covers the liquid.

Add the milk powder and fennel seeds.

Add the salt in one corner and the yeast in a small indent in the centre of the flour.

Set bread machine on basic setting and off you go.

When finished knock out loaf onto a wire rack to cool.

Eat and enjoy,  perfect with pate or a wedge of cheese!

I've been looking at Lakeland, amongst others, their cheaper one has been unavailable for weeks, only the £134.99 one is now available, but that is more than I want to pay. Have a Morphy Richards on loan from next-door, and wanted one of those, but can't find it anywhere.

Thanks KJ, having seen the Morphy Richards one and had to return it I think I might go for the compact Panasonic around £99....but there aren't any available. So will trundle on with my old Prima till things improve, big worldwide demand for all things baking has caused these shortages.

InaD, it was a MR 502001, very neat design, apologies I couldn't remember previously. It was one of only three in stock at the time. frown

Thanks brue, I keep looking, but see no breadmakers!  At least not in my price bracket.

One day.......

Looks like you can reserve the £99.99 one now as they expect them in stock on 24/06

I bought yeast from Amazon- huge bag, should last me a lifetime!

Flour I’ve been buying from britishcornershop.co.uk (check the co.uk), a bit more expensive but they have a reasonable range and only takes a few days to arrive.

i use a Panasonic machine. It doesn’t have a timer as such for overnight baking, you just add hours onto the time you want, I.e. if you put it on at 10 p.m. and want it finished at 7 a.m. you put the time on for 9 hours instead of the 5 it sets automatically.

I can't find yeast anywhere, except a highly inflated priced tin on Amazon. A worldwide shortage due to brewing industry cut backs, even marmite is only available in small jars, I hear....frown

DD managed to get flour from Asda this week, no idea about yeast though.

At Tesco it is listed as out of stock, but Asda seem to have it.  However, not familiar with how their website works regarding what is in stock.
