Really looking forward to the serialisation of David Nicholls' book starting tomorrow on BBC1. He is one of my favourite authors - he has the knack of writing stories that ought to be incredibly shallow and schmaltzy but actually turn out to be surprisingly deep. If this is as good as the film of "One Day" it's going to be a real treat! smile

I might watch it on iplayer at some point, I got part way into the book a few months back and semi gave up, found it a bit tedious but if the programme shortens this I might see what happens....except I'd got a totally different picture in my head of the characters. wink

Still one more episode to go as we have watched as it happens so to speak. I will reserve my final judgement until then although I am not sure I am expecting any surprises but you never know!

Watched final episode last night. Like Tom Hollander as an actor. Loved the locations, especially Venice. Story wise perfectly pleasant but perhaps a bit predictable maybe?

I must say I prefer conventional happy endings.

Not David Nicholl's style, CY - it's a common theme of "Starter for 10", "One Day" and his latest "Sweet Sorrow" (sorry to give the game away on that one! wink) - you think you're heading for one sort of happy ending but get a completely different sort.

Nice easy reading though!  smile
