Their Finest

We went to see the WW2 film "Their Finest" today, starring Gemma Arterton and a good cast including Bill Nighy, who managed to make everyone laugh with a scene set in a boarding house. If anyone remembers what it was like queuing for the bathroom? It's probably why I'm not too bothered doing the same on van sites! It was also a bit of a weepie so be prepared. A film about film making which used the same ploys with the present viewers, quite clever. wink

I was interested in the film locations, if you know Pembrokeshire you might recognise a few places including Porthgain.

I see there are trailers out for a film about Churchill which looked good and a Daphne Du Maurier tale, My Cousin Rachel. Looks like we'll be back for more.smile

We weren't that impressed - a bit long tbh.   However, I did enjoy Bill Nighy and the storyline in particular the twist.   However did like the look of Churchill.

Excellent film. Sharp but sensitive dialogue; well paced, nuanced acting; comedic highs tinged with  well timed pathos; no longeurs - it neither hurried the story line, nor bored the audience.

And as Brue said, if you like Pembrokeshire you will recognise some places. Freshwater West, as an example, stood in for Dunkirk.

A hugely enjoyable trip to the cinema.

Not seen the film yet - I'll probably wait for it to come round on the TV.  However, in was the casting of Bill Nighy that made me think it was a film I would perhaps want to see.  He is always good for a laugh.  I still remember him in Love Actually 😂
